Google Messages app crosses 1 Billion install via Play Store

Google's Messaging app has completed 1 Billion plus active installs as per Google Play Store listing. Messages app is created by Google and updated frequently with latest technology and with most secure practices. However, this app does not come pre-installed in most of phones. Only Pixel and Android One phones have pre-installed Messages app as default communication application for SMS & MMS.

Messages app also offers Web version which syncs messages in your browser. This works almost similarly as WhatsApp and is called Messages for Web. 

You can access the Messages for Web application by visiting https://messages.google.com/web/authentication link and pair your phone by Clicking Messages for Web link in Menu of Messages application.
